Soonchild

For this project we were faced with designing a show which is able to be toured in schools and community venues, where we would have to considerate the get in and get out times of the show and the types of venue spaces which the performance would take place. We also had to take into consideration that we had a budget of £5,900. We had the challenge in having to fit; set, props, puppets, musical instruments and costumes into a transit van. When reading through the script I looked at the different themes which I think are explored within the story which are; the north, journey, sustainability, fear, searching and storytelling. Storytelling and journey were the themes I wanted to focus my design on, I had the idea of setting it around a campfire because of how I wanted the audience to feel and the campfire idea seemed to work really well. I wanted the three actors to act as hikers that have just been on a long journey and have learnt some stories on their travels and they are retelling the story to fellow campers/ hikers that are on the campsite and are gathered around a campfire circle. Using camping equipment that they would be carrying or could have found along the way to help them
